If I dont have a basket or a trivet, can I place them directly in the pot?
Now deviled eggs will be on the menu more often. Thanks.
Hi Wendy. So easy, right!!! Jill
This was the first thing I tried in my new IP. My eggs were done perfectly. Thank you!
You’re welcome, Linda. Jill
What if I only want to cook 6 eggs vs. 12 – does that change the timing at all? TIA!
Time is the same, no matter how many eggs are used. Jill
Can I just use my trivet in lieu of a steamer basket?
Yes.
Timing question: is it 15 minutes after NPR or 15 minutes after 2 minute cooking time is up?
15 minutes after the 2 minute cooking time is up.
What is that soup on your Cover? It looks….delicious!!
Love Love LOVE your blog! Wish you did breville smart oven air!
Robin. My air fryer and oven recipes can be used in the smart oven. I will be doing more oven recipes. Jill
Hi Jill!
Thank you for this recipe! One question though, after the 2 minutes of cooking is done, do I turn off the unit or let it stay in the “warm” function for the 15 minutes of NPR?
THANK YOU!
Heidi. Keep Warm is fine. Jill
This has been my question for this first week I’ve had my IP! Keep warm or turn off? Thanks for the question and answer!
Julie, no need to turn it off. Jill
*** THANK YOU *** for the hard boiled egg recipe. I stink at making hard boiled eggs – now I won’t thanks to you. Oh how I appreciate this recipe. Now I’m going to check out that potato salad recipe. Yippee!
Hi Babette. You are very welcome. I am glad my method has helped you make perfect eggs. 🙂 Jill
I just bought the 3-quart mini and wondered what size strainer to use for the mini? I’d love to use your recipes, but most of the accessories you mention are for the 6-quart size. Any chance that you’ll adjust your recipes to include measurements and accessories for the mini? Thanks!
Hi Susan. You can cook all of my recipes in the mini. Some will need to be cut in half and others won’t. Just take a look of the ingredients and see if they will fit in a smaller size. In my Mini review, I like to several accessories. Jill
Does the time remain the same if you are using smaller eggs? I have a couple dozen from hens just starting to lay. I am planning on pickling them.
Thanks!
For small (or new laying hen eggs), I do 2 min High and then 4 min NPR, then quick release, no ice bath. 🙂
I’ve had my ip for a month. I made these 4 times and they turned out perfectly. The next 3 times they were still gooey and uncooked. I’m doing everything the same!! What could it be?!
Make sure the silicone seal is set. Jill
The 8qt states that 1.5 cups is minimum required to reach pressure. Would this change anything for your recipe? Thanks 🙂
Hi Laura. It is fine to add 1.5 cups of water. Jill
I would like to see the recipes. I just bout the 10 quart and can’t wait to use
I have a silly question. Do you HAVE to have this model to cook eggs in “hard boiled” form?
Hi Laura. Any pressure cooker will do the same thing. Jill
Perfect hard boiled eggs!! Whoop whoop!
Hi Carol. So glad you are happy. 🙂 Jill
quick ? on step #5….allow a Natural Release, I have the Duo Plus….(I’ve done hard boiled eggs in a stovetop BRK pressure cooker) but this is the first time in a fancy electric Instant Pot. Please clarify…that you…do I need to press cancel, so the ‘keep warm’ feature isn’t holding the temperature? I see others have asked a similar question, but no answer. If you could please share tips or how in general I would need to adjust IP recipes for the Duo Plus that would be helpful.
Eggs are perfect every time I have used this recipe. I cook a dozen to last for the week!
I don’t have a basket to put my eggs in.can I use some else?Or can I just lay them on my steamer rack? And how much water do I need for the eggs?
Hi Kay. The rack is just fine. 🙂
