Pressure Cooker Ken’s A1 Pot Roast made with only a few ingredients is a super delicious meal, full of onions and A1 Steak Sauce.

Pressure Cooker Ken’s A1 Pot Roast

Ken from the Instant Pot Facebook group has allowed me to use his recipe for pot roast. You can use a rump roast or a chuck roast.

A chuck roast will be tender and more juicy and a rump roast is a leaner cut of beef. This Pressure Cooker Ken’s A1 Pot Roast recipe is a great recipe to use your Bone Broth, as it will add an additional layer of flavor.

Ingredients

Roast

  • 3 pounds Chuck Roast or Rump Roast
  • 4 large Yellow/Brown Onion thick sliced
  • 1/2 cup A1 Steak Sauce
  • 1 cup Beef Broth (or 1 cup water + 1 tsp Better than Bouillon Beef Base)
  • 1 Tablespoon Sea Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh Garlic

Vegetables - optional

  • 4 medium Potatoes
  • 5 large Carrots

Recommended Products

Instant Pot Electric Pressure Cooker
High Heat Resistant Spatula
Liquid Measuring Cup Set

Instructions

Roast

  • Remove the connective tissue and then season roast well with salt, pepper and garlic.
  • Push the Sauté or Browning button on your Pressure Cooker and add olive oil when hot.
  • Sear the roast on both sides for about two minutes each side.
  • Remove roast from the Pressure Cooker cooking pot and add onions and sauté for five minutes and then turn off Pressure Cooker.
  • Return roast to the Pressure Cooker cooking pot.
  • Pour in A1 Steak Sauce and broth.
  • Set the Pressure Cooker to High Pressure and set time for 50 minutes.
  • When Pressure Cooker beeps, allow a natural release, which will take about 15 minutes.

Optional Vegetables

  • If vegetables are desired, add them in after the pressure has released and cook at High Pressure for 5 minutes more.

Notes

A rump roast works well too and if you use it, you will need to add 10 minutes of pressure cook time.
This roast is so good and with a simple change of sauce, you have a completely different flavor profile.

Just made this for dinner and it is delicious! I used another steak sauce as that is what I had. Two sweet onions, 2 large carrots and a few gold potatoes. It was nice and tender. Perfectly cooked. I made a gravy out of the juices. Thank you!

Jill….read this..”Chuck Roast will be leaner than a Rump Roast, but it is also more fatty, so if you use a Chuck Roast, drain the oil after searing.” Do you see what I see? Any ideas for a sub for the A-1?

My mom used ketchup. I am making this recipe right now with bone broth, ketchup and red wine. (Don’t like A-1)

Thanks for the idea, Maddy! We don’t like A-1, either.
