Air Fryer Spicy Bang Bang Chicken Wings have a wonderful crunch and are drenched in a creamy, sweet, yet spicy, chili sauce.
One of my favorite recipes is my Bang Bang Shrimp {Bonefish Grill} that is cooked on the stove top in hot oil. It is truly, one of the best things ever to tickle my taste buds. Chicken Wings is a favorite in this house and I love to come up with new flavors. The current favorites are my Air Fryer Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken Wings and Air Fryer Chinese Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings, followed by my Better Than Hot Wings Cafe Buffalo Wings.
I have been wanting to do a Bang Bang dish in my Air Fryer. First up are Chicken Wings. The Chicken Wing skin is already rich, so, I knew I needed to make some adjustments to the Bang Bang Sauce, otherwise, the result would have been way to rich for a Chicken Wing. Sweeter and Spicier fit the bill nicely, so instead of Bang Bang Chicken Wings, I offer up Spicy Bang Bang Chicken Wings.
The fat in the Chicken Wings will render out during Air Frying and the Wings will be super crispy, so don’t worry about this being an oily mess. 🙂 That’s not to say that your fingers will be messy from the luscious sauce, while eating the Air Fryer Spicy Bang Bang Chicken Wings.
If you want an even spicier Air Fryer Spicy Bang Bang Chicken, add a little of the Chili Paste to the Egg White in your Mixing Bowl and Whisk together well.
Coat the Chicken Wings in the Egg White and set them aside while you make the Spicy Bang Bang Sauce.
Add all the Spicy Bang Bang Sauce ingredients to a bowl. The Sambal Oelek Chili Paste I use is wonderful. It adds a great pure Chili flavor, without other competing flavors. The Mae Ploy Chili Sweet Sauce is wonderful to have too.
I love to mix it with Barbecue Sauce and use on Chicken when I grill outside. We used to go fishing a lot in Florida and very often, I would take a bag of Chicken with the Marinade. As we fished, I would cook on our portable Old Smoky Charcoal Grill. It was so easy to set up and we always had a blast. Those were some fun days. Gosh, this makes me sad a bit. It is the one thing I miss after moving back to California from Florida. Our weekend fishing was so relaxing and peaceful.
Whisk up the Spicy Bang Bang Sauce really well and set aside while the Wings are cooking. The flavors will have a chance to marry and come together as one.
Use Silicone Spatulas, not your fingers to handle the wings and to help with the shaking and tossing of the Wings in the Air Fryer. You want to make sure that the Potato Starch does not gunk up and get sticky. You also don’t want to scratch your Air Fryer.
Make sure never to use Pam when you season your Air Fryer Basket. It will leave behind a coating, that is impossible to remove. Coconut Oil, Crisco, Canola Oil, all work well.
You do not need to Oil Mist your wings with Oil. The Skin of the Chicken is enough to get a nice and even cook, without adding additional Oil..
See how nice they have crisped!!! Make sure to shake and toss them several times during cooking. The coating stays on too! Wait about 5-10 minutes before the first shake, so that you give the coating a chance to stick on well.
The Air Fryer Spicy Bang Bang Chicken Wings will be nice and crisp. The Potato Starch, coupled with the Egg White, make for a delicious and a bit puffy Chicken Wing. Place the Chicken Wings into a Large Serving Bowl. Make sure it is big enough to toss the Wings with the Sauce.
They taste delicious even without any sauce at all! Another delicious Chicken Wing recipe is my Air Fryer Chinese Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings. They are super simple and pack a lot of flavor. They are less messy than these wings, as you will see in about a second.
Pour the Spicy Bang Bang Sauce over the Chicken Wings and mix to coat. They are messy, but oh so good. Think about making some an Asian Crunchy Noodle Salad, Asian Inspired Pressure Cooker Mashed Potatoes or Pressure Cooker Triple Coconut Rice as a side dish.
Gather up some napkins and get your eat on! Don’t forget to come up for air! Enjoy!

I can’t believe how crispy these are, and the sauce is just right, bringing a sweet heat. Quick and easy to make, too. These will be on the menu regularly.
